Jet Ski Poker Run to benefit food bank enters 14th year

LITTLE ELM (May 18, 2018) There’s likely no better way to help the area food bank than by participating in the Annual Jet Ski Poker Run and Benefit Dinner, both set for Saturday, June 16.

Now in its 14th year, the 2018 version of the poker run is virtually identical to previous iterations, but this year’s dinner changes venue to the Towers Tap House and Hydrous Wake Park in the Lakefront District.

As has been the case for the last 13 years, the one-of-a-kind poker run and dinner will donate all proceeds to benefit the Little Elm Food Bank.  For a modest entry fee, jet ski riders and boaters can begin as early at 10 a.m. and make five stops along the shores of Lewisville Lake to pick up one poker card per location.

The stops include Little Elm Beach, with food and beverages available for purchase at the Lakefront Grill; Sneaky Pete’s, with food and beverages available for purchase from Sneaky Pete’s; Pier 121, with food and beverages available for purchase from Rockin’ S Grill; Hidden Cove, with food and beverages available for purchase from Rockin’ S Grill; and Cottonwood Marina, which is the last stop and where all poker hands are delivered.  Deadline to complete the route is 4 p.m.

Once all the hands are reviewed, prize winners will be determined in several categories.  Prizes are given to the best hand, the worst hand, the highest four of a kind, the highest three of a kind, the best two pair, second-best two pair, third-best two pair, and highest card total.  Winning hands will be announced on Monday, June 18.

A maximum of 156 players will be accepted at $22++ each.  Tickets, which must be purchased before the event, can be obtained by visiting www.eventbrite.com (++ service charges apply) and searching for “14th Annual Jet Ski Poker Run.” The poker run is sponsored by the Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation.

Capping the day is the Annual Benefit Dinner at Towers Tap House, 290 East Eldorado Parkway, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.  The $50++ per person donation provides a buffet dinner, drinks, beer, and wine.  Kids under 12 years of age pay $25++, which includes unlimited access to Hydrous’ Hydro Park next door.

In addition, there will be a silent auction, raffles for prizes and Hawaiian-themed entertainment which will include hula dancers, fire eaters, and fireworks.  Tickets for the benefit dinner can be obtained by visiting www.eventbrite.com (++ service charges apply) and searching for “14th Annual Jet Ski Poker Run Benefit Dinner.”
