Community Wildfire Protection Plan

Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP) are a proven strategy for reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfires. The Denton County CWPP is a proactive approach to identifying areas in the county that have a high risk of loss of life and property from a potential wildfire.


You can prepare your home against the threat of wildfires by taking preventative action steps to help reduce the "fire fuel" around your home. Below are some tips and links to help guide and educate you about the threat of wildfires and the Denton County Community Wildfire Protection Plan.

• Clearing brush away from your home
• Using fire-resistant landscaping 
• Collecting emergency supplies in an easily accessible kit
• Storing belongings in a safe place, such as a fire-resistant safe
• Developing an escape route for your family and let all individuals residing in your home know the route
• Establishing a safe meeting place in case of a fire or other emergency and belongings in a safe place
