Library Lending Policies
Due Dates: All materials may be checked out for three weeks at a time. Items without pending hold requests will automatically renew for an additional three weeks. If an item checked out to you is on hold for another patron, it must be returned to avoid overdue account blocks. We do not charge overdue fines.
Hold Requests: You will receive an email when your hold is ready for pick-up. Your hold will have the first three letters of your last name and the last three numbers of your library card. Please bring your library card or photo ID for pickup.
Book Drops: There are two kiosks for self-checkout and returns inside the library. There is also a curbside book drop on the east side of the Little Elm Town Hall which is accessible 24/7.
Expired Library Cards: To renew an expired card, please call 214-975-0430 or come by the library.
Remember: To log in to your account, your username is your library card number and your password/PIN is the last four digits of your card number.
Digital Resources: Digital resources including e-books, e-audio, e-magazines, streaming content, languages, learning resources, and online databases are available via our Digital Library page.
Temporary Cards: Don't have a library card? You can still access many of our online resources with a temporary card. Temporary cards are good for 12 months from the date created. Once you have signed up for a temporary card you can pick up your physical library card at the Library. Click here to register for a temporary card.
*If you already have a physical library card, you do not need to apply for a temporary card. To access e-materials, the account number on the back of your physical library card is your username and the last four digits is your password*
