Citizens Government Academy 2019! Another successful gathering of our CGA members and this night was spent learning a little about LEPD. Participants were given tutorials on LIDAR and RADAR equipment, received information about our drone unit, toured '633', the MRAP SWAT vehicle, and played investigators during a mock crime scene.
After Chief Harrison gave them an overview of the PD, the budget, training, a blurb on the cost of PD vehicles, and much more, the class split into four different groups.
Attendees talked to PD drone pilots and learned when, where, and how they use them, talked to snipers and checked out SWAT equipment, and worked to solve a 'who dun it,' and worked a staged traffic stop.
The Little Elm Police Department and its officers always love teaching residents about the department and sharing their experiences with them.
It was a fun night, and we can't wait until the Citizens Police Academy in the spring!
