[ARCHIVED] Catching the Rainbow | Sending Skittles Home

SKITTLES 2

Not all heroes wear capes.

It’s usually the fire department that’s helping to reunite cats and their owners, but the PD wanted to get in on the action this time!

For the past few months, the Police Department has had a feline visitor that would periodically wander into the parking area.

The cat was skittish and would not come near anyone, but would ’talk’ to you from the fence line. On Monday, March 3, the cat finally came out of her shell and allowed one of the PD employees to sit with her and pet her.

The cat wanted hugs and attention from anyone willing to take the time.

One of the employees fell in love with her but couldn’t have her, so she called animal control to come to get her to ensure she would be safe.

LE Animal Control scanned the cat for a microchip, and they were able to locate the owner. It turns out ’Skittles’ had been reported missing in 2018!! Animal Control was able to get in touch with the owner, who has since picked up her pet. Skittles is now home with her family.
