[ARCHIVED] Officers Respond to Reports of Gunshots

Update: 3:20 p.m., April 6, 2021

Yesterday, officers took Martavias Jerrell Woods, 18, into custody due to further investigation into the shooting death of Jayvion Dantrell Galburth that occurred on April 2, 2021, at Little Elm Beach. 

Woods surrendered himself to the Little Elm Police Department. He is currently being held at the Denton County Jail on a charge of murder.

Officers are still seeking a 16-year-old male in connection with the incident.

Update: 9:30 a.m., April 30, 2021

The victim in this incident has been identified as Jayvion Dantrell Galburth, 18, of Paloma Creek. Galburth succumbed to his injuries at 4 a.m. on April 3, 2021.

An order to apprehend for the offense of murder has been issued for a 16-year-old male resident of Savannah, Texas.

At 8:02 p.m., on April 2, 2021, officers from the Little Elm Police Department responded to reports of gunshots at the Beach Pavilion in Little Elm Park. Upon arrival, officers and EMS personnel located a subject with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a nearby Denton hospital and is in stable condition. 

Officers have identified the individual who shot the victim and are working to locate them at this time.  

Officers believe the situation to be related to a disturbance between two sets of brothers. The investigation is ongoing.
