The next Citizens Government Academy will begin accepting applications on July 5. This eight-week program, held annually, is designed to offer Little Elm residents the opportunity to learn about the local government's daily functions and roles. The program aims to create more informed, engaged, and proactive community members to strengthen the Town's vision for growth and development.
In the program, participants will learn about the inner workings of local government and get a chance to participate in things like a mock council meeting, a town budget challenge, tours, and equipment demonstrations.
"This program has graduated more than 100 participants, some of which have gone on to serve on our boards or commissions, our Town Council, and even joined our organization as team members," said Little Elm Town Manager Matt Mueller.
The 2023 academy will begin on Wednesday, September 6, and conclude on Wednesday, October 30. There will be a graduation ceremony and reception on Tuesday, November 7.
